GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Culpeper Literacy Council offers General Educational Development (GED) Instruction throughout the year. Classes are held on Tuesday from 8:15am to 10:45am and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Thursday evening from 7-9:00pm, and Saturday afternoon 12:30 - 3:00 p.m.    To register for any of the above classes, call 540-825-5804.  The CLC also offers a free Official GED Practice test once a month.  The Practice Test dates are also announced in the newspaper.

Our GED program will prepare you to succeed in passing the GED certification test. A GED diploma is viewed by most employers and higher education organizations as the equivalent of a high school diploma. Having your GED is a passport to continued learning, college enrollment, or a better job.

To enroll and qualify for our GED program, please contact our office to schedule an appointment. Plan to spend about 2 hours on your enrollment visit. Prospective students must be 18 years of age or older. Our intake process involves capturing basic contact and educational information and a short locator test that provides a rudimentary assessment of your skill level in reading and math. Following the locator test, a more in-depth assessment is performed. This involves a 50 minute test each in Reading and Math. These are nationally standardized tests called Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Once these test are completed, you are ready to begin class!

Our instruction covers all areas of the GED test including Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Our classroom can accommodate approximately 12 students.

In addition to traditional teaching methods, the CLC embraces the use of technology in the classroom.  We use multi-media approaches for instruction delivery through the utilization of a laptop computer and projector.

The Culpeper Literacy Council will host CLC GED Graduation for those students that have attained their GED during the current fiscal year on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 11:00am...

Students: Keep on studying those fractions and working on the essays! We believe in you and know that you will succeed!
